FISHING REPORT - October 2026 - Picante Sportfishing

October came and went in a flash! It was a month filled with tournament excitement and unusually active storm systems, keeping us constantly watching the weather. On some occasions, unfavorable conditions forced us to stay tied up at the docks instead of heading out to sea. Fortunately, both Bisbee’s major tournaments went ahead as scheduled, delivering record-breaking payouts and unforgettable moments. We’ll share all the highlights and results further down in this report!
Fishing remained strong throughout the month, with consistent striped marlin release numbers. Blue and black marlin action was also excellent, with dozens of releases recorded during the tournaments. For those looking to bring home fresh fish, dorado and tuna kept our anglers happy.
Looking ahead to November, we expect yellowfin tuna numbers and sizes to continue increasing. The first few days of the month have already brought very promising reports, with cow tuna weighing between 200 and 250 pounds! Needless to say, expectations are high for next week’s WON Tuna Jackpot Tournament. We are looking forward to some exciting action and hopefully a few big tuna making their way to the scales!
The best bait/lure was Mackerel, Ballyhoo, Cocinero, plumas, palitos, kite, cedar plugs and marlin lures.
The best fishing spots this October in Cabo: Herradura, Margarita, Golden gate, 95 and El Faro.

October Tournament Season: Big Fish, Big Wins & Unforgettable Moments!
October brought two of the most exciting fishing tournaments of the season to Los Cabos: the Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore and the legendary Bisbee’s Black & Blue. Both events delivered incredible action, record-breaking payouts, and plenty of excitement around the marina!
Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore 2026
The 2026 Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore brought together 122 teams and 758 anglers, with an impressive 226 billfish caught and 220 released. The tournament distributed a total of $2,394,300 in prize money, but one catch made history!
Team Trixie, fishing with Captain Erik Carmack, landed a 334-pound black marlin on Day 2, securing third place overall. Despite not taking the top spot, this catch earned the team an incredible $1,589,007, sweeping all Day 2 daily jackpots and accumulated rollovers. It marked the largest single payout in the history of the Los Cabos Offshore tournament!
The top two positions went to Tiki Perro Pescador with a 350-pound blue marlin, followed closely by Loose Crew with a 347-pound blue marlin. Other notable catches included Caliente’s 259-pound yellowfin tuna, the heaviest tuna of the tournament, and a 46.5-pound dorado caught by Prime Time.

Bisbee’s Black & Blue 2026
The excitement continued with the 2026 Bisbee’s Black & Blue, attracting 175 teams and 1,292 anglers, with a total purse of $7,464,250.
This year’s tournament will be remembered for one extraordinary catch. On Day 1, Kevin Miranda aboard Contango’s Spartan’s Revenge, fishing with Captain Jeff Villarroel, landed a massive 491-pound blue marlin after an intense two-hour battle. With unusually warm water temperatures and challenging fishing conditions throughout the week, this was the only marlin to meet the tournament’s 300-pound minimum qualifying weight. No qualifying fish were brought to the scales on Days 2 or 3, allowing all daily jackpots to roll over to the winning team.
The result was an astonishing $5,629,300 payday for Spartan’s Revenge, claiming all six daily jackpot levels, as well as Top Team and Top Captain honors. An unforgettable achievement and one of the biggest stories of the tournament season!
Daily release winners
Day 1: A Blueish Hue $211,650
Day 2: Never Say Never two blues, $211,650
Day 3: Right Rigger $117,300, and Cottonpicker $94,350
