PICANTE FLEET FISHING REPORT

In one word, fishing in Los Cabos this May was INCREDIBLE.

Striped marlin, swordfish, sailfish, bull mahi-mahi, wahoo, and massive roosterfish kept anglers busy all month long. Typically, this kind of mixed-bag fishery arrives in June as summer begins, but warmer-than-usual water temperatures have brought the action early and we’re not complaining!

With sunny days, calm seas, and outstanding fishing both inshore and offshore, summer is shaping up to be one of the best times to visit Cabo. The best fishing spots this May in Cabo: 95 spot, 11:50 and Cerro blanco.

Picante Expresso the Cabo Express 31’, released 15 Striped marlin this May, plus 1 Sailfish, 2 Big Roosterfish and 2 Wahoo and 11 Dorado.

The Albermarle 31’ Ramrod release 10 Striped marlin, 6 Roosterfish and landed 4 Mahi.

Picante Express, 32’ Cabo Express released 8 Striped marlin and they catch 1 Swordfish, 5 Dorado and 1 Wahoo.

Picante Dream 35’ Cabo Flybridge, released 18 Striped marlin, they landed 17 Dorado and 1 Wahoo

Picante Pride, Cabo express 36 ft, released 20 Striped marlin and 1 Sailfish, they also boated 10 Dorado.

The Tollycraft 40’, Picante, release 10 Striped Marlin and got 10 Dorado for dinner.

FISHING REPORT - May 2025 - Picante Sportfishing

May brought warm weather and excellent fishing conditions along the Sea of Cortez. Our fleet reported dozens of Striped marlin releases, along with solid catches of wahoo, dorado, and yellowfin tuna—perfect for dinner. Although the last weekend of the month saw port closures due to a storm, June kicked off with strong action for striped marlin and dorado.

Summer fishing in Los Cabos is truly rewarding, offering the thrill of marlin releases and the chance to bring home quality fish for the table. We look forward to welcoming you aboard!

The best fishing spots this May in Cabo were: 11:50 and Cortez side
The best bait/lure was Mackerel, Ballyhoo, Cocinero, plumas, palitos, cedar plugs and marlin lures.

Picante Expresso the Cabo Express 31’ released 13 Striped marlin and boated 5 Dorado and 10 Yellowfin tuna, they also got 1 Wahoo and 3 Roosterfish.

The Ram Rod Albermarle 31’ released 5 Striped Marlin, the also fished 3 Dorado and 10 Yellowfin tuna.

Picante Express, 32’ Cabo Express released 11 Striped marlin, they boated 8 Yellowfin tuna and 6 Dorado.

The Cabo Express 35’ Salsa released 8 Striped Marlin and 7 Roosterfish and boated 14 Yellowfin tuna and 4 Dorado.

Picante Dream 35’ Cabo Flybridge, released 7 Striped marlin and landed 5 Dorado, 5 Tunas and 1 more Roosterfish for the count.

Picante Pride, Cabo Express 36’, released 11 Striped Marlin and boated 2 dorado, 20 Yellowfin tuna and also 2 Wahoo.

Picante 45 Cabo Express 45’ released 11 Striped Marlin, and boated 14 Yellowfin tuna and 2 Dorado plus 2 Roosterfish.

Cabo Express 45’ Caliente 45, released 16 Striped Marlin and fished 5 Wahoo, they also landed 8 Yellowfin tuna and 6 Dorado.

PICANTE FLEET FISHING REPORT

It’s no surprise the bite in May was really good, better one than April numbers. There were days of double digits on Striped marlin and the Sailfish was there too, and of course the supporting cast of Roosterfish, Dorado and Wahoo were out in full force. This May the Sharks were collecting taxes and football Yellowfin tuna appeared to the delight of our clients.

The best bait/lure was caballito, ballyhoo and lures

Picante Expresso the Cabo Express 31’ released 36 Striped marlin, 1 Sailfish, and had 1 Wahoo, 8 Dorados and 2 Roosterfish.

The Ram Rod Albermarle 31’ released 20 Striped Marlin and caught 3 Wahoo and 13 Dorado.

Picante Express, 32 ft Cabo Express released 30 Striped marlin, and boated 12 Dorado. They also released 1 Shark and 6 Roosterfish.

The Cabo Express 35’ Salsa released 17 Striped Marlin and boated 10 Dorado, plus 2 Sharks and 8 Roosterfish released for the archive.

The 35’ Cabo Flybridge, Picante Dream released 24 Striped marlin and loaded 10 Dorado plus one more Wahoo for the count.

Picante Pride, Cabo Express 36’ released 15 Striped Marlin and 1 Sailfish, they loaded 10 Dorado also.

The Picante Tollycrafy 40’ released 10 Striped marlin and landed 5 Dorado and one Wahoo.

Picante 45, Cabo Express 45 ft released 30 Striped marlin and 1 Sailfish and caught 25 Dorado and 6 Yellowfin tuna.

Caliente 45, Cabo Express 45 ft released 33 Striped marlin, they also landed 10 Dorado for dinner

PICANTE FLEET FISHING REPORT

The 31’ Cabo Express, Picante Expresso released 9 Striped marlin and landed a 17 Dorado.

The 32’ Cabo Express, Picante Express released 11 Striped marlin, 10 Dorado and some bonitas for sashimi.

Salsa, the Cabo Express 35’, had 10 Marlin released for the archive plus 6 Yellowfin tuna and 10 Dorado for the count. Thay released one Roosterfish also.

The 35’ Cabo Flybridge, Picante Dream, released 14 Striped marlin and landed 16 Dorado and some bonitas.

Picante Pride, Cabo 36 ft, caught and released 15 Striped marlin and boated 8 Dorado, they also release a couple of Sharks.

The Picante 40’ Tollycraft released 12 Striped marlin also and boated 7 nice Dorado and 2 Yellowtail for dinner.

The 45’ Cabo Express Picante 45 released 16 Striped marlin, landed 10 Dorado, plus one Roosterfish and a bunch of bonitas.

Caliente 45, Cabo Express 45’ released 18 Striped marlin for the archive and boated 9 Dorado, some of them Bulls.

OCLTC DERBY

This month Picante Sportfishing were proud to receive the 76th Ocean City Light Tackle Club derby, the teams were fishing in choppy seas of early May but they had an incredible time, they had fun and they got excellent prizes fishing in the Marlin Capital, Congratulations to all the anglers!
