FISHING REPORT - January 2026 - Picante Sportfishing

PICANTE FLEET FISHING REPORT

January delivered outstanding fishing action across the board. Roosterfish fishing was incredible, with great early-morning bites from these hard-fighting shoreline warriors. Release numbers for Striped marlin increased compared to December, and we also saw an uptick in both the number and size of Dorado. Tuna action remained consistent, and several lucky anglers were rewarded with Wahoo.

What can we expect for February? We believe the Marlin numbers will continue, with good chances for swordfish as well. February should also be an excellent time for snapper, grouper, and yellowtail. Contact us and book your fishing trip!

If Finger Banks is on your bucket list, now is the time. We’ve been seeing excellent reports with double-digit marlin days, along with Dorado, Wahoo, and—if luck is on your side—tuna.

Picante Expresso the Cabo Express 31’ released 10 Striped marlin, they boated 6 Tunas, 4 Dorado and 3 Wahoo, they also released 5 Roosterfish.

RamRod Albermarle 31’ released 10 Striped marlin and landed 5 Tuna and 1 more Wahoo, they release 8 Roosterfish.

Picante Express, 32’ Cabo Express released 18 Striped marlin and 7 Roosterfish, they catch 8 Yellowfin tuna, 2 Wahoo and 6 Dorado.

The Cabo Express 35’ Salsa released 10 Striped Marlin, and had an excellent Tuna month landed 35 plus 8 Dorado.

Picante Dream 35’ Cabo Flybridge, released 34 Striped marlin and one Sailfish, they landed 11 Mahi and released 10 Roosterfish.

Picante Pride, Cabo 36 ft, released 15 Striped marlin, and boated 2 Wahoo, 10 Yellowfin tuna and 11 Mahi.

Picante 45, Cabo Express 45’, released 24 Striped marlin and 15 Roosterfish. They boated 18 Dorado and 6 Tuna.

Cabo Express 45’ Caliente 45, released 16 Striped and boated 12 Yellowfin tuna and 14 Dorado.

PICANTE FLEET FISHING REPORT

We thank those who decided to start the year in the best way possible by fishing with us in Cabo San Lucas. It has been a great start! The variety of species has left our clients happy, the Wahoo and Tuna catch has broken records! We look forward to a good February with an increase in the Marlin and Dorado numbers.
Janaury Inshore fishing was good for Sierra and great for Roosterfish with double digits!

The best bait/lure were: Mackerel, Ballyhoo, Lisa and Cocinero, plumas, palitos, cedar plugs and marlin lures.

Some of the best Cabo fishing grounds this January were: Golden gate, 95 spot, El Faro and La Herradura.

Picante Expresso the Cabo Express 31’ released 8 Striped marlin and boated 20 Yellowfin tuna, 8 Dorado and 4 Wahoo.

The Ram Rod Albermarle 31’ released 6 Striped Marlin and caught 5 Dorado and 30 Yellowfin tuna.

Picante Express, 32 ft Cabo Express released 6 Striped marlin, and boated 31 nice Yelowfin tuna, 5 Dorado and 6 Wahoo.

The Cabo Express 35’ Salsa released 12 Striped Marlin and boated 45 Yellowfin tuna, 10 Dorado and 4 Wahoo more for the count

The 35’ Cabo Flybridge, Picante Dream released 8 Striped marlin and boated 30 Yellowfin tuna, 6 Dorado and 4 Wahoo.

Picante Pride, our Cabo Express 36’ got 55 Yellowfin tuna, 4 Wahoo, 6 Mahi and released 15 Striped Marlin. Roosterfish enthusiasts were more than happy with 18 released specimens.

Summer is the prime season for Roosterfish, but January has been excellent, and February looks promising too. If you’re eager to catch Roosterfish, don’t miss this chance!.

The Picante Tollycrafy 40’ released 8 Striped marlin and landed 20 Tuna, 6 dorado plus 2 Wahoo.

Picante 45, Cabo Express 45 ft released 20 Striped Marlin, 45 Tuna, 5 Dorado and 2 more Wahoo for the records.

Caliente 45, Cabo Express 45 ft released 10 Striped Marlin, landed 15 Yellowfin tuna, 7 Mahi and 3 Wahoo.
