FISHING REPORT - August 2025 - Picante Sportfishing

August proved to be an excellent month on the water, with warm seas and abundant baitfish setting the stage for action-packed days offshore. As the water temperatures continued to rise, conditions became ideal for targeting Striped marlin, along with the highly anticipated arrival of Blue and Black marlin. In addition to the billfish bite, anglers also enjoyed great opportunities to land some of the most sought-after table fare in Cabo, including Yellowfin tuna, Dorado and Wahoo.
The best fishing grounds this August in Cabo were: El Faro and Cerro blancoThe best bait/lure was Mackerel, Ballyhoo, Cocinero, plumas, palitos, and marlin lures.

Picante Expresso the Cabo Express 31’ released 2 Blue marlin and 10 Striped marlin, they also boated 2 Dorado and 15 Yellowfin tuna.
Picante Express, 32’ Cabo Express released 12 Striped marlin and 2 Sailfish, boated 13 Yellowfin tuna and 6 more Dorado for the count.
Cabo Express 35’ Salsa released 2 Blue marlin, 12 Striped Marlin and 2 Sailfish, they boated 14 Yellowfin tuna and 4 Dorado.
Picante Dream 35’ Cabo Flybridge, released 11 Striped marlin and 1 Blue, they landed 16 Tunas and 2 Dorado.


Picante Pride, Cabo Express 36’, released 10 Striped marlin and 1 Sailfish, boated 6 dorado and 10 Yellowfin tuna.
Picante Tollycraft 40’ released 11 Striped marlin, 1 Blue marlin and 1 Sailfish also. They boated 18 Yellowfin tuna and 4 Dorado.
Picante 45, Cabo Express 45’, released 12 Striped marlin and 2 Blue marlin, they catch 25 Yellowfin tuna, and 4 Dorado.
Cabo Express 45’ Caliente 45, also released 12 Striped Marlin and 2 Blue marlin, and boated 20 Yellowfin tuna and 5 Dorado and one Wahoo.






A total of 82 teams and 486 anglers came together for this year’s event, creating an atmosphere full of excitement and anticipation. With over $1.52 million in prize money at stake, the competition was fierce and every catch carried the potential to change the leaderboard. Baja’s East Cape proved once again why it’s the perfect stage for world-class sportfishing, delivering an electrifying kickoff to the 2025 Bisbee’s Trilogy.
Highlight of the Tournament: Team Zorah stunned the fleet with a 773 lb black marlin—the largest ever recorded in East Cape Offshore history. Although it arrived by trailer after the deadline, it instantly secured its place as a Bisbee’s legend.
